اعتراض ستوده وفسی به دولت قبرس!
ستوده وفسی فرزند ابوالقاسم، متولد تهران و از حدود 10 سال قبل، ساکن قبرس است.
Political refugees yesterday handed a memo to the House President and European Union’s office in Nicosia, calling for citizenship and recognition of their basic human rights.
Holding banners saying: ‘Nationality is our right’, ‘We are recognized refugees in Cyprus’, ‘Cyprus is our home’, around 100 refugees – some with their young children – gathered outside the parliament building as a delegation handed their memo over to House President Marios Garoyian. They then marched to the Europe House, where they handed it over.
“We are looking for our rights,” said Sotodeh Vafsi, one of the protesting women. “We want our human rights. My husband and I are here for 10 years and we don’t have anything. We have children here, they are local, they talk and express themselves in Greek, but they don’t know what they are, Greek, Cypriot or other?”
“I had to flee because they wanted to kill me,” she said. “And it’s not just me; a lot of people are being persecuted because of their religion. The penalty for changing religion in Iran is death.”…
